Introduction

Make a retro greeting card for the hipster in your life - it's suitable for a multitude of special occasions. Free template available for download.

Tools and Materials
Retro Interlocking Card Template
Self-sticking laminating sheets (optional)
Scissors
Two pieces light to medium colored green card stock
One piece of dark colored card stock
Scrap of rust or copper colored card stock (big enough for the Outer amoeba shape on the template)
Rubber stamp set Mod Designs Large
Rubber stamp set Assorted Greetings and Sentiments
Metallic Gold Lumiere or other metallic gold acrylic paint
Pearlescent white acrylic paint
Colorbox Crafter's Pigment Ink colors Stucco, Olive, Frost White and Chestnut
White acrylic paint
foam brush
Pencil
Eraser
Folding tool, such as the Multi-Purpose Squeegee, which has a flat side for folding, from the Tsukineko Inkcessories Kit (optional)
Glue stick, Yes Glue, or other non-wrinkling paper glue

Prepare the Template
  1. Download the Retro Interlocking Card Template.
  2. Print out the template, and if you like, laminate it for durability.
  3. Cut out the main card template and the two amoeba shapes.

Stamp the Pattern
  1. On one of the sheets of green cardstock, stamp one design element with Metallic Gold Lumiere onto light avocado green card stock. Let dry.
  2. Stamp another design element with pearlescent white acrylic paint. Let dry.
  3. Stamp the following colors of Colorbox Crafter's Pigment Ink with various design elements: Stucco, Olive and Chestnut. Allow to dry naturally or dry by heat setting.
  4. Stamp final two design elements in white by applying acrylic paint to the stamp with a foam brush.
  5. On the scrap piece of copper or rust colored card stock, sponge on some Metallic Gold Lumiere paint. After it dries, sponge on some Stucco and Chestnut Crafter's Pigment Ink to make a mottled pattern, and heat set.
  6. For more pattern ideas, see the Pattern Library.

Assemble the Card
  1. Place the card template onto the dark brown cardstock, and trace around it with a pencil.
  2. Cut out the card shape, and erase any pencil lines that might remain.
  3. Fold the card according to the fold lines on the template.
  4. Cut out a 4.5" x 5.5" piece of plain green cardstock and glue to the inside middle section of the card.
  5. Using the template as a guide, cut two pieces from the green patterned cardstock - one for the Front cover flap and one for the Inner amoeba.
  6. Glue the Front cover flap piece to the outside left hand flap.
  7. On the back side of the copper or rust colored card stock piece, trace around the Outer amoeba template with pencil, and cut out.
  8. Glue down rust/copper amoeba shape onto the outer front right hand flap of the card where indicated on the template. Glue the patterned amoeba shape on top.
  9. Stamp "For You" from the set Assorted Greetings and Sentiments in Frost White Crafter's ink, and heat set.
  10. Write the greeting of your choice inside the card.
  11. If you would like to make an envelope for the card, the Rectangular Envelope Template will fit this card.
